Our Main Case Study - Justin Stephens

Our education system is broken!

Our economy is suffering and our social security is at risk.

To solve this problem we need to understand how money works.

Our education system teaches us how society operates, but it doesn't teach us how to learn and grow throughout life. We expect our government to solve this problem. But this is not a job that the government can take care of for us.

Real-life changes too fast for a government to manage the educational process in its entirety.

It is up to us, the people who must live and operate within the rules set by the government, that should be educating our people.

We are not launching this company to be better than or replace the public education system.

This company is launching because of the private education that I went through on my journey through life. Our goal is to address areas that are not covered by the public education system. So we can add value and make America a better place.

Justin's Journey Through The Private Education System

Entrepreneurial Parents

Growing up, my parents ran a remodeling business in Boise, ID. From them, I saw what it took to build and run businesses, I saw the struggles and mistakes and the things that are required when it comes to building a business.

When I was 13 years old, my parents now owned a remodeling company, plumbing company, and an electrical company.

They bought a Sandler Training franchise to help all 3 of their companies learn how to sell.

That summer, between 8th and 9th grade, I spent going through sales training.

It changed my life.

I was a quiet shy kid learning with 40 and 50 year old business owners what it takes to sell.

I spent time learning how to communicate with others.

Being around that sales training at such a young age had a huge impact on my life and what I have done throughout my life.

After high school, I went to the University of Idaho and earned a BS in Marketing.

Sales Coaching and Training

After college, I spent 10 years doing sales coaching and training in the family business.

We helped clients all over the US learn sales and communication skills.

Through this process, I learned a ton about sales and communicating.

I was more specialized in sales rather than business overall.

I thought I knew business at this point in my journey...

My Entrepreneurial Journey

The end of my journey with my parents happened when I started learning digital marketing from Russell Brunson.

I learned all kinds of amazing strategies to grow companies and market them.

I started implementing them into our business, with almost no success.

It was in October 2018 that I was trying to do a sales challenge to generate clients and build the business.

That is when we got a cease and desist letter from the franchisor due to the way I was marketing.

That is when I decided to leave the family business.

The way I saw it, they get to make the rules, I get to decide if I want to follow them.

That is when I went out on my own to start my own business.

I started by going to Date with Destiny by Tony Robbins in December 2018.

It changed my life, I learned so much that I started to implement and apply in my world.

This is where Unboxing Events was born.

Unboxing Events was my first big entrepreneurial adventure.

I have always loved live events, and the power of what happens in a live event is amazing.

My idea was to create a software platform similar to Yelp for live events.

I was all in on this idea.

I started investing in myself, hiring coaches and consultants, and trying to put this together.

The problem was that I started at the bottom of the value ladder.

I was doing a free event to a $100 up-sell to a $300 live event ticket and then hoped to sell a $25,000 coaching program at the live event.

This is all great in theory, but I quickly learned that you can only start at the bottom of the value ladder if you have tons of money.

I didn't.

I had invested my life savings (and my families) into this idea.

We moved from Boise, ID to Orlando, FL to be where live events were.

I went all in.

And it failed.

The business had failed and I had lost everything.

It was July 3rd, 2019 when I told my wife that I couldn't afford to pay rent next month and that I had to change something.

This was my first major pivot.

I figured if I could make such silly mistakes with my training and background, that I could surely help someone avoid those silly mistakes.

I started selling coaching and consulting to new entrepreneurs.

I came up with a program and was able to get a couple people into it, and we continued to survive and fight the fight.

This pivot only lasted about a month though.

That's when I learned the next extremely important lesson of building a business.

You have to sell to people who have money and can afford what you sell.

While I was able to bring on a few clients, I was charging more than they could afford and coaching and consulting is not an instant fix.

After I lost the clients I had brought on, I had the blessing of two good friends who have been on this whole journey with me.

Jerel and Robert run Kaitech Automation, a robotic integration company, and I had been coaching and consulting with them for some time.

I got done on a call with them in September 2019, and at the end of the call they said 'I don't know what all you will do but we will pay you $5,000 a month to do it'.

It was a godsend.

We were able to keep moving forward and keep trying to build a business.

I dove into their business and started building lead generation and prospecting processes.

I started doing the prospecting and getting the results for my clients.

They started referring me to other folks to help them with lead generation.

This is where Prospecting Done For You was born.

I started getting clients and building a business helping them with lead generation.

The problem was that I am only one person.

I have 3 kids and a wife to feed.

I needed the money to feed my family instead of reinvesting that money into the company.

I was busy selling my business and was not getting my clients the results that they deserved.

I was starting to get clients on board and working with me and got up to 5 clients by February 2020.

This all came crashing down when COVID hit in March.

I lost 4 of the 5 clients by June 2020.

I was devastated.

This is also when I started to learn from Roland Frasier about mergers and acquisitions.

On this journey of trying to start my own business, I have learned so much.

And the most important part of it is that NO-ONE can do this alone.

What I learned about M and A was that I have an extremely unique skill set, and I should stop trying to do everything and instead partner with other people to help them be more successful.

I started looking at how can I go out and acquire a % of other businesses to bring my skillset to the table and help them grow.

My mentality has always been we win together.

Fast forward to November 2020 - I met an Ex-IRS auditor of 7 years who now ran her own tax strategy firm.

She was working on marketing, but did not have a sales process lined out.

We decided to partner and work together to help people.

For the next 10 months, we worked together helping entrepreneurs on how to save money on taxes.

Before this experience, I had NEVER paid attention to taxes.

I learned so much about taxes working in the industry.

I learned how difficult the system is for accountants and CPAs.

I learned how complex it is for us Americans.

I learned how the government uses taxes to control us.

I started looking at taxes from a macro level.

The first tax that I am trying to impact is social security.

Social Security is designed to take care of the people who are doing the work.

It is currently projected to be able to cover about 75% of the payments required starting in 2034/2035.

Someone needs to do something about it, so why not us, the American people.

My goal is to use this company as a vehicle to help people throughout life, not just once they get to retirement.

This education system is designed to be used, not to just sit there.

If this model was already in place, each time I invested in coaches and consultants and trainers (which I have invested well over $50,000 in the last 2 years alone) It would have improved my education and given me an asset to help me retire, or I can use the asset now to apply the education.

This system is designed to give people options and a way to save money inside of themselves instead of inside of a bank.

Together, I believe that we can make the American dream become a reality for more people.
